From Founder to Firm
Blake Cantrell is a business and commercial transactions attorney with over a decade of experience across a broad range of corporate practice areas. What sets Blake apart from most business attorneys is that he has lived the entrepreneurial journey firsthand. Before practicing law, Blake launched and rapidly scaled a food delivery company in Norman, ultimately negotiating its successful acquisition by GrubHub, Inc. That experience gave him something no classroom can teach: a ground-level understanding of what it actually takes to build, operate, and exit a business.
After his exit, Blake served as both General Counsel and Chief Executive Officer of a multi-unit retail business headquartered in Oklahoma City. In that dual role, he led the company through an expansion to six locations across Oklahoma while managing a team of over 70 employees. During that same period, he established the business as an FTC-compliant franchisor, guiding multiple franchise business owners through formation, launch, and ongoing operations.
Today, Blake brings that firsthand perspective to every client engagement at Cantrell Law Firm. Whether he is structuring a new business entity, negotiating a commercial contract, guiding a company through an acquisition, or advising a franchisee on their agreement, his counsel is shaped by real experience on both sides of the table.

Beyond the Practice
Blake and his wife Devon met at TU Law and recently welcomed their first son. After spending several years in Boulder, Colorado, they still make regular trips back to hike in the summers and snowboard in the winters. When he is not in the office or the classroom, Blake enjoys traveling, spending time with their Bernese Mountain Dogs, boating on Grand Lake, golfing, and cheering on the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman.
